The Indo-Pacific Robotics, Autonomy, AI and Cyber Conference and Exhibition (IPRAAC 2025) today announced a new Industry Knowledge Partnership with the Subsea Innovation Cluster Australia (SICA).
SICA, based in Western Australia, is the national industry-led cluster dedicated to advancing subsea and underwater innovation. Its work brings together operators, suppliers, researchers and government agencies to accelerate commercialisation and capability development across sectors critical to Australia’s future.
This collaboration brings together IPRAAC’s leadership in robotics, artificial intelligence, autonomy and cyber with SICA’s deep expertise in subsea innovation and offshore technologies.
“We’re thrilled to partner with IPRAAC 2025 as an Industry Knowledge Partner,” said Dr Colin McIvor, SICA Cluster Manager. “This collaboration opens exciting new pathways for innovation at the intersection of subsea technology, autonomy and AI. It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect industries, accelerate adoption of advanced technologies, and showcase the world-class capability already being developed right here in Australia.”
The partnership will also focus on building national capability by supporting innovation pipelines, strengthening sovereign resilience and advancing applications where subsea and autonomous systems intersect. Through joint contributions to the IPRAAC 2025 program, SICA will provide valuable perspectives from subsea industries, reinforcing Australia’s role as a hub for cutting-edge technology and sustainable development.
David Matrai, Committee Chair of IPRAAC 2025 adds, “Partnering with SICA strengthens our capacity to foster innovation in subsea innovation across the Indo-Pacific region.”

About Subsea Innovation Cluster Australia
Australia’s subsea and underwater industry is a key enabler of energy, defence, and ocean innovation, supporting a growing network of companies working across oil and gas, offshore renewables, environmental monitoring, and critical underwater infrastructure. With the transition to clean energy and greater focus on sovereign capability, subsea technology is playing an increasingly strategic role in Australia’s economic future.
Subsea Innovation Cluster Australia (SICA) is the national industry-led cluster for Australia’s subsea sector. Based in Western Australia, SICA connects operators, suppliers, researchers and government agencies to accelerate innovation, commercialisation, and cross-sector collaboration. The cluster represents businesses across offshore energy, defence and renewables, supporting capability development and technology diversification.
Backed by funding from the WA Government and industry partners, SICA drives growth by helping local companies access new markets, build partnerships, and bring new technologies to the surface. The cluster supports knowledge sharing, capability mapping, collaborative R&D, and promotion of emerging local technology to operators and global partners. Through new alliances like its MOU with the UK’s Global Underwater Hub, SICA is strengthening Australia’s position in the international underwater economy.
