Prof. Dr. Artur Lugmayr is the Founder and Director of UXMachines Pty Ltd, an Australian SME pioneering AI-powered autonomous software systems for the aviation, defence, and infrastructure sectors. After a successful international academic career, Artur stepped away from several university engagements to focus full-time on building UXMachines into a global leader in mission-critical autonomy. UXMachines’ flagship platform, AEROphoria.com, provides advanced airspace intelligence and automated flight authorisations for drones, forming part of Australia’s evolving UTM (Unmanned Traffic Management) ecosystem.
With a Dr.-Techn. in IT and long track record of leading, contributing, and working as part of large-scale, international R&D projects, Artur was among the youngest professors appointed at age 33.
His expertise lies at the intersection of AI, software engineering, user-centric system design, and the integrating large, complex IT environments. He has contributed to global technology standards through his work with ISO/IEC MPEG and held senior academic roles across Australia, Europe, and Africa — including positions at the University of Western Australia, Umeå University (Sweden), University of Cape Coast (Ghana), and Tampere University of Technology (Finland).
A passionate aviator, Artur holds a private pilot licence and enjoys exploring Western Australia’s Wheatbelt by air — combining his love for flight with his mission to reshape the future of autonomous aviation.
