Lead for Behavioural Data Science – The Alan Turing Institute

Professor Ganna Pogrebna is the Executive Director of the AI and Cyber Futures Institute at Charles Sturt University, which was named Australia’s Research Institution of the Year in 2025 at the Australian Cyber Awards. She is also the Lead for Behavioural Data Science at the Alan Turing Institute and the Honourary Professor of Behavioural Analytics and Data Science at the University of Sydney. A globally recognised pioneer in behavioural data science, digital twins, and autonomous systems, she leads interdisciplinary work at the intersection of robotics, cyber resilience, and strategic risk modelling. Ganna’s research has informed policy at the World Bank, Council of Europe, and the European Leadership Network, particularly in applying AI and digital twin technologies to decision-making in defence, sustainability, and global security. Her work blends cutting-edge computational modelling with deep behavioural insight, ensuring AI and robotic systems remain human-compatible in both terrestrial and extra-terrestrial environments. A recipient of the Women in AI Asia-Pacific Award for Risk and Cybersecurity 2024 and the UK Women in Tech 100 Award in 2020, she is also a strong advocate for inclusive, ethical innovation in critical infrastructure and emerging technologies.
